Camilla Skovgaard FW08
Hey readers, take a gander at the new Camilla Skovgaard FW08 collection. They have sent me pictures as their site is down. As usual, she didn't disappoint!

my picks: the hairy pump. I love how the 'hair' is perfectly brushed, haha! one needs new terms to describe these shoes. I'm gonna go with freaky-elegant. The 5th pair looks like some Louboutins I drooled over a year or so ago, they had a spiderweb cutout on the front. These look very similar to them, simply gorgeous.

I am at a loss. Both the grey-suede buckle bootie and the grey strappy sandal are killing me. It's something about this color, so versatile. I'm not afraid of the suede, as I am of the "the grungier, the better" school of thought. You know how Chucks are never supposed to look new? well, this is the same thing.
The black version of the strappy sandals (last pic) is pretty amazing as well, reminiscent of the successful Givenchy gladiator sandals of SS08.
I adore the dynamic, curving lines of the boot, but I'm not really feeling the toe. I might need to see more angles.

Out of this bunch, the only shoe I'm really loving is the black ankle boot. I'm not sure how I feel about the first two iridescent shoes. I love how it looks like oil on water, but the rainbowy tones kind of turn me off.

again, the gorgeous taupe-ish beige. I think I'm dying for all 3.
What shoes are you dying for this season?

I was looking at the campaign for
Marithé + François Girbaud Spring/Summer 2008 shot by my man Ryan McGinley and I was reminded of this Deep Dish music video where passers-by on the street randomly meet, make out, and keep walking unfazed.
what would you do if you suddenly found yourself in a busy city square and everyone just started getting freaky around you? would you run away and hide or would you go find the nearest hottie, flip your weave and say "hayyyy?"
...
I was planning on getting the Viv Westwood pirate boots for this winter, but Pierre Hardy had to come along and mess up my plans.

I *need* these. how amazing would they look all grungy and lived in?

Collier de Cavalli
Here is an example of designers getting 'inspired' from others. Do these belts look familiar?

it's the Hermes Collier de Chien!
As much as I dislike Cavalli's designs, he definitely chose the right accessory to be 'inspired' by. The CDC belts and bracelets are stunningly hot and SCREAM luxe punk. I hope to have one someday!
get Cavalli's inspired (but definitely toned-down) version of the CDC belt at Yoox for 123 euros.
If you are after the real deal then BIS Designer Resale on Ebay has it, as well as many other stores.

perfection
Natasha P. + Jil Sander FW08 = perfection. Natasha is one of my faves and Jil Sander FW08 was heart-stoppingly beautiful.

ugh I think I just had a fashion-gasm.

SANS
I have finally arrived in Italy after a month-long vacation in both Mexico and my beloved San Francisco. I had an amazing time and got some much-needed relaxation (and a small amount of shopping) done!
I apologize for not updating much but I will be more present now :)
I hope everyone's summer was FIERCE.
I was browsing the interwebs today and I came upon SANS, a label launched by Alessandro Devito and Lika Volkova. Very architectural, stark, clean lines abound in the collection and the silhouettes push the boundary.

looks 1 and 2 are literal jump "suits"... I appreciate the idea but I won't be wearing these anytime soon. I would, however, wear the crap out of the third look (with the red). I usually dislike red very much, but if it's a yellow-hued red it appeals to me a bit more.
On a side note, I was quite taken aback when I saw the primary red (almost a blue-hued red) tanks and cardis that Rick Owens did for fw08 at Barney's. So many gorgeous colors to choose from and he chooses stark red! I'm just not feeling that.
I would, however, wear this with thick grey tights, for modesty's sake!
Moving on, I immediately thought of a space-age french maid when I saw looks 4 and 5. When I become a billionaire and will have my own flying mansion/space station, this is what the help is going to be wearing.
I have no comment on the last look, it looks like they tried much to hard to be avant-garde. The layering and juxtaposition of materials is completely random, and don't get me started on the proportions.

Overall, their concept is very interesting and have some pretty funky socks and hats available for sale on their website. They also offer some of their past-season patterns so you can recreate some of the pieces at home. w00t!

Back in the bay :)
Finally, a post!! I had a whirlwind week in Mexico and I got back to san francisco on the 12th... I have been detox'ing at home since then but yesterday I caught up with a few friends in the city.
I love chilly SF weather, I had a chance to break out my favorite jacket of all times...
here's me werking it in H&M with a very wintery balaclava:

rick owens jacket
petit bateau tee
noir bridle belt
rick owens trousers
converse

I was also able to go to Barney's and DROOOOL over everything there... I usually sprint for the Balenciaga rack but it was quite underwhelming. The Alaia rack blew me away, though. Their selection is huge. Sculptural dresses made of beautiful lacey/ruffly material... tight, short jackets and a knockout leather trenchcoat. Carine would've had a field day in there.

vacaciones
On monday I am leaving for my hometown in Mexico (yay!!) for a week, and after that I am going to San Francisco for 2 weeks.
I hope to squeeze in a post here and there. I know I haven't been the chattiest blogger lately but I have been up to my head in tests and such... I have not abandoned you yet!
I leave you with my latest obsession, Manolo Blahnhik for TSE 'Mieloz' sandal...
